Microdermabrasion is a mechanical exfoliation treatment that helps to gently buff away the first layer of the skin.
A wand with a diamond tip is used for the procedure and is applied to the skin surface.
This is followed by the application of professional skin care products. The exfoliation allows for increased absorption of skin care products, making them more effective.

The Hydro Glow Facial involves the use of a "medical-grade hydro dermabrasion device that carries out a three-part regimen — cleansing, exfoliating, and then infusing skin with intensive serums. The treatment is similar to microdermabrasion. Rather than blasting the skin with grit via traditional dermabrasion, this gentler approach vacuums out pores while simultaneously pushing in potent actives that moisturize, brighten, plump, and protect. This treatment has little to no downtime treatment.
Over time the amount of collagen in the face reduces, which leads to sagging, wrinkling and the loss of radiance in the skin. Laser skin tightening with the Alma™ Near-Infrared system stimulates collagen production and enhances the skin’s collagen fibers, alleviating lax and loose skin for more vibrant tone skin.
Microneedling is a minimally invasive procedure using thin needles. The procedure can help reduce the appearance of skin concerns such as acne scars, stretch marks or wrinkles. Most people get microneedling for cosmetic purposes, but it can also help with some medical conditions.

NIR facial
What is Infrared Skin Tightening?
Near infrared (NIR) skin tightening is a non-surgical, non-invasive skin rejuvenation treatment
It uses infrared light energy to penetrate the tissue under the skin’s surface, leaving the top layer of skin unaffected.
How does it work?
The procedure uses a safe level of infrared light that is able to penetrate the deeper layers of skin. The light energy heats the water in the skin tissue and causes collagen fibers to contract and tighten.
It also stimulates fibroblasts to repair skin cells and produce new collagen. This helps to smooth out fine lines and wrinkles and gives long-lasting firmness to sagging skin.
Because the NIR light energy only heats the deeper layer of skin that contains collagen, it leaves the top, surface layer unaffected.
What happens during the treatment?
Before we start the treatment, we apply an oil to your skin which allows the laser to glide over the skin and also assists in heating the skin to reach the desired temperature.
We then pass the NIR handpiece over the targeted areas of your skin.
This heats up your skin until it reaches a working temperature of between 39 and 42 degrees Centigrade. We maintain this temperature for a further 10 to 15 minutes.
Depending on the size of the area we are treating, the whole procedure should be completed in about 30 to 40 minutes.
Is the treatment painful?
You should not feel any pain during the NIR skin tightening. Wou will feel a warm sensation, similar to being on a sun bed, which at most might be slightly uncomfortable.
The handpiece has a built-in cooling system to prevent the surface layer of your skin becoming too warm.
Are there any side effects?
Because the treatment involves heating your skin to a relatively high temperature, you should expect some redness afterwards.
You may also have some mild swelling, but this and the redness should settle down within a few hours (24 hours at most).
Other than this, there is no downtime and you can continue with your day immediately after treatment.
How soon will I see the results?
You should notice your skin looking firmer immediately after the treatment and lines and wrinkles less prominent. This is partly due to the slight swelling that is a normal side effect of NIR skin tightening.
When this swelling has gone down (within 24 hours), the treated skin will feel smoother and you will see some improvement.
However, the most significant results happen gradually over the following 2 or 3 months. In this period, the tightening becomes more visible as the skin forms new collagen.
How many treatments will I need?
Some patients have achieved their expected results after only one treatment. Most people, though, benefit from a course of 3 to 6 treatments, at intervals of up to 3 weeks. A few patients may need up to 8 treatments, depending on their skin condition and expectations.
During your consultation for the procedure, we will discuss the number and frequency of treatments that you need to achieve optimal results.
How long do the results last?
NIR skin tightening treatment can help to reduce some of the visible signs of ageing skin. We normally expect the results from the treatment to last for a year at the least, and more often up to 2 years. NIR can’t, however, completely halt the ageing process, and you may continue to need top-up treatments to maintain results.

Your healthcare provider cleans your skin and applies a numbing cream or ointment, such as lidocaine gel. They do this about 30 minutes to 45 minutes before your procedure, so the ointment has time to work.
Next, your healthcare provider uses a hand-held roller or an electric tool to make the wounds in your skin. The roller has tiny needles. Your healthcare provider rolls it slowly and gently across your skin. If they use the electric device, needles pulse up and down to puncture your skin. They can change the length of the needles on the electric device. Longer needles go deeper into your skin, which might be necessary if you have deep scars or pockmarks from acne. Needle lengths can range from 0.5 millimeters to 2 millimeters.
You might feel warmth or a scratching sensation on your face once the microneedling starts. Some people feel discomfort if the needles are near bony areas, such as your cheekbones. Deep microneedling might cause a little bleeding.
A microneedling procedure can take anywhere from 15 minutes to a few hours, depending on the size of the area that needs treatment.
Microneedling is an outpatient procedure, so you can go home once it’s done. Your skin might be red and swollen for up to five days. An ice pack can help reduce irritation and discomfort. Most people can wear makeup the day after the procedure, but you should stay out of the sun until your skin heals.
Microneedling is a safe procedure, but risks may include:
Microneedling can help improve the appearance and texture of your skin. It can minimize stretch marks, scars, wrinkles and other skin concerns.
It doesn’t carry the risk of skin discoloration, unlike some facial rejuvenation procedures that use heat, light or lasers. This makes microneedling ideal for people with darker skin tones.
In the days and weeks after microneedling, you might notice that your skin burns or feels tight. Some people also have dry, flaking skin that improves with moisturizer.
Most people need multiple microneedling treatments, usually about 3 weeks to 8 weeks apart. It can take 3 months to 6 months to see results. Afterward, you might need the procedure once a year for maintenance.
Preparing for treatment
Most skin colors and types can benefit from chemical peels, though it is best to check with your esthetician about which peel might be right for you. If you’re taking acne medication, Retin-A or Accutane, talk to your esthetician and/or doctor about stopping the medication before and during treatment to avoid complications. Your esthetician can review any other contraindications with you prior to your treatment to determine if a chemical peel is right for you. Be sure to get a thorough consultation prior to your peel.
What to expect during a chemical peel
The skin is cleansed and a prep solution will be applied to remove surface oils and allow the peel to penetrate the skin evenly. Any sensitive areas that cannot be treated will be protected with a thin film of petroleum jelly. Your eyes will be covered to protect them. One or more chemical mixtures will be applied, such as glycolic acid (from sugar cane), trichloroacetic acid (similar to bleach), salicylic acid (wintergreen—good for acne), lactic acid (from milk), or a combination peel called a Jessners peel. The peel will be applied in 1–3 layers, depending on the depth of penetration intended. The acids react with the skin to produce a controlled wound, allowing fresh skin to regenerate and emerge. A tingling, burning or hot sensation is normal. Most peels remain on the skin only a few minutes, and are closely watched by the esthetician. A fan may help you stay more comfortable. After some peels, a neutralizing solution is applied to stop the peel. Other peels are self-timed and stop on their own.
After the peel
After most peels, the skin will be pink to red, and look shiny and tight. It is vital to apply sunscreen of SFP 30 or greater to the skin for the next 48 hours, minimum. You must also stay out of the sun, as your skin will be very sensitive to UV rays and could be damaged by sun exposure. The skin will begin to flake or peel within 2–3 days after the treatment, unless you had a lactic acid peel—these encourage moisture retention and may not produce any actual peeling. Sun-damaged areas of your skin will appear darker at first, then will lighten. This is normal. Deeper peels can produce peeling for a week or more. To assist in removing the flaking skin, an enzyme peel or light microdermabrasion treatment is sometimes scheduled a week or so after the initial peel. For maximum results, a series of peels is usually recommended, and may be necessary for treating challenging issues such as hyperpigmentation.
Home care after a chemical peel
Your esthetician will recommend healing products to use for the week or two following your peel. These will soothe and nourish your skin, and aid in its recovery. Usually it is best to avoid makeup during this time, to allow the skin to heal and function without interference. However, if you must wear makeup, mineral makeup will not adversely affect the skin.
